U 20 rescues Remis against Italy
The German U-20 national team remains unbeaten in the seventh game of the season. After a victory against France and a draw against Portugal, the German team fought a draw in Ascoli Piceno against Italy on Thursday afternoon.
About 3000 spectators, the team of Christian Wörns after a gobless first half passed through Niklas Tauer from the 1st FSV Mainz 05 even in the lead (55th). Afterwards they made life difficult for life.
First, the Freiburg defender Kenneth Schmidt flew with a yellow-red card from the square (68th), shortly afterwards Italy was able to achieve the equalizer by the substitute Edoardo Vergani (77.).
Five minutes before the end of the game, Germany was then only too ninth in the field: Captain Soufiane Messeguem from VfL Wolfsburg had to leave the field with yellow-red (85.).
Wörns: “We showed character and the game suggested over time”
“According to the two yellow-red cards, of course, there was no game at eye level anymore. But today we have looked right, character shown and the game suggested over time,” said Christian Wörns for the game against “DFB.de” after the game. “The result is fine in the end, even though I was not completely satisfied for the first time today. But you can just leave the character of the boys,” so the coach continues.
Already on Tuesday (20.30 clock), the next test stands for the U 20, then it goes in Colchester against England.
