National team: Hansi Flick sad about Mesut Özils Development
National coach Hansi Flick regrets the development of Mesut Özil and the suspension of the former world champion at Fenerbahce.
He just find it “sad because Mesut was in my first time with the national team of one of the outstanding players,” said Flick in Frankfurt / Main. “That’s a pity how the development has taken place now.”
Flick was during the Joint World Cup title win 2014 assistant of national coach Joachim Löw, currently he has no contact with Özil.
The Turkish top club had announced on Thursday to exclude the 33-year-old captain from the squad. On his arrival in January 2021, Özil had still been welcomed by the Fenerbahce fans euphoric. Previously, he had dissolved his contract at the FC Arsenal in London.

Before the preliminary round at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Özil was in criticism because of his photos with the Turkish head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
After the tournament he returned from the German national team and criticized the handling of him.
From the suspension at Fenerbahce, he learned about a common friend, reported Özil’s former teammate Ilkay Gündogan. “With Mesut, I have not had any contact for several weeks, months.” He pursue the Turkish league, but could not say anything about details.
