Two years late starts next year s Giro d Italia in Budapest. Actually, the second largest cycling ride in the world should start in the Hungarian capital in 2020. Due to the Corona pandemic, the plans had to be changed.

On May 6, 2022 it starts – a total of three stages in Hungary

Now it s about the 105th edition next year on 6 May with the first stage of Budapest to Visegrad. The following two sections also take place according to a message from the organizer in Hungary. On May 7, a single time trial is 9.2 km in Budapest on the program, a day later it is over 201 kilometers from Kaposvar to Balatonfüred am Lake Balaton. The other stages will be announced at a later date.

For the 14th time the giro starts outside of Italy, for the first time since 2018 when he started in Jerusalem. Originally, the Giro should be started in Budapest in 2020, but had been relocated to Sicily because of the Corona Pandemic.
